2010-02-01: Now booking our Stanley Steelhead lodge!
The steelhead are coming, the steelhead are coming! There are 324,00.00 fish headed into Idaho. This is a record run since the pre-dam days. This year will should have a fantastic steelhead season!
Lost River Outfitters operates the only Upper Salmon River Steelehad Lodge. We operate this steelhead lodge out of the Beckwith’s Lodge in Lower Stanley, Idaho, from March 26th to April 26th. We provide delicious home cooked meals in a cozy atmosphere with the incredible Sawtooth Mountains visible from inside the lodge. The lodge sleeps 7 people or 3 couples.
Our steelhead guide trips take you fishing for these fabulous ocean going rainbows, that have traveled nearly 900 miles to spawn in the head waters of the Salmon River. We can accommodate 2 anglers/ guide. All of our fishing is walk-wade, and we return to the lodge for a hearty lunch.
If you are an avid fisherman, we will keep you out on the river until dusk, which means your fishing day is quite long, or you can return early for cocktails and a soak in our hot-tub with a view of the Sawtooths.
We have operated our steelhead lodge for 10 years now and many of our guests return every year.
If you do not wish to stay at the lodge, we also offer guide trips without the lodging.
If you are an avid back-country skier, opportunities to back-country ski abound in the Sawtooth Valley. Whether you’d like to go for a short hike behind the lodge, climb one of the surrounding peaks, take a trip to one of the back-country yurts operated by the Sawtooth Mountain Guides or Sun Valley Trekking, or go on a guided back-country skiing adventure, bring your skis and have a steelhead and powder or steelhead and corn adventure. There is still lots of snow and there are many steelhead to catch!
