Steelhead Fishing

For several years now, Lost River Outfitters has had the pleasure of guiding fly-fishers on the Salmon River near the mountain town of Stanley for Steelhead. The fly fishing opportunities for Steelhead on this river are very good. We do most of our fly fishing to these magnificent fish by sight fishing. If we can spot them we have a very good chance of hooking them. The fish average around 8 to 14 pounds with a few upwards of 20 pounds. A 1 hour drive from Sun Valley can put you in the heart of this wonderful fishery. If you have never experienced this type of fishing, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. The season is in April and can offer a great break from spring skiing. Contact us for information on the next seasons “run” of fish and we will be happy to help set up a trip for you. We also offer guided trips for fall Steelhead on the lower Salmon River near the town of Riggins. Please check the conditions page for river conditions and fish counts over the Snake and Columbia dams.
We also operate the only Full-Service Steelhead Lodge in Idaho. This lodge is open from March 23 through the end of steelhead season April 30.Our lodge sleeps 8 guests or 3 couples. We over fabulous home-cooked meals, and the views are hard to beat. Since the days are quite long in April, it is nice to be able to spend the night after a long day fishing. We are currently booking for the 2008 steelhead season and get quite busy. If you are interested in booking the lodge, contact us info@lostriveroutfitters.com now. We’re already getting busy for next year!
